Family Things for Christmas

I learned how to make divinity candy from the expert - my mom.
She is a tough teacher.  I think I passed, but it wasn't easy.

I made Andrea a 'Santa' shirt for Christmas.
Finally got this done on December 23rd,
She only got to wear it once.  Oh well, there's always next year.

I made this scarf for my neice, Emily age 7, who is learing to crochet.
She did the fringe by herself.

We had a 'craft' day on Dec 23rd.
I helped my neices make ribbon pony tail holders.

Shelby chose  the green & red ribbons above
and these Auburn ribbons.

Emily chose Bama ribbons -  Just to aggravate her mother.

This is Emily's other choice - pink and lime green.

We had a lot of fun!

What I did before Christmas

Hand towels:  Left 'B' is in TImes New Roman font
Right 'B' is in French Script.

I embroidered names on these 4 stockings.
The single letters were already on them.
Barely made the deadline on this one!

I made three lap size memory quilts for a family
who is very special to me.
This was a very rewarding project.

I also did four scarves for different people from 'That One Jewelry & Gifts'.
Thanks Carolyn!

Houndstooth Checkbook Cover

This is a checkbook cover that I made for myself as a sample.
The houndstooth is actually paper designed to be stitched on.
You could also use vinyl letters for the monogram.
I purchased the checkbook cover and the paper
from the SewingMachine.comstore in West Point, GA.

Zeke

What happens when a Georgia fan marries an Alabama fan? ....

You get 'Zeke' !    Poor little Zeke is caught in the middle.
Wonder what team he will pull for?

Snowflake shirt

This is my 'Breakfast with Santa' shirt.
My church - Lanett Nazarene Church - will be hosting a Breakfast with Santa next Saturday,
December 3rd from 9 am to 11 am.  I will be helping with crafts so I needed a shirt to fit the theme,
which is  'Jesus Loves You Snow Much'.  We will decorate with snowmen and snowflakes.

Button-on Tabs

This basic outfit needed a little something on the bib.

I used the 'button on Tab' applique design from AppliqueMomma.com.
It comes in sizes ranging from 1.5 x 4  to 3 x 7.
I used the smallest size for this outfit.

I used red thread for the name and outline and red micro-check fabric for the applique.
I used clear buttons so any color tab will work. This will be cute with a red shirt.

This button on tab was made with polka dot fabric.
The purse design is from appliquemomma.com.
This will look good with a pink shirt & bow.
This button on tab is made with a Christmas Dot fabric and stitched with lime green thread.
Pink, Red or Green will work with this tab.

Here are the tabs up close.  The possibilities are endless!

Christmas Gifts Last Year

Last year for Christmas,  I made each child in my
Kindergarten Sunday School Class a pillowcase with their name on it.

I don't know what I will make this year.  I have 4 boys and 2 girls in my class.
A few of them were in my class last year so the gift has to be different.
Any suggestions for 4 & 5 year olds?

It's a Secret!

I have been busy making gifts.... some for Christmas and some for new babies.
Because they have not been 'gifted' yet - I cannot show pictures of them.
I plan on posting them after they have been received - so stay tuned...

Monogrammed Hand Towels

I monogrammed 4 hand towels this past weekend for a customer.
These will make a really nice gift.

Three Little Turkeys

Turkey shirts for three little turkeys.....
Happy Thanksgiving!
I added a ruffle to some jeans using the same fabric as in the turkeys above.
This will make a cute outfit for 'Madison'.
It is also a great way to extend the life of 'too short' jeans for girls.

Elegant Bibs

I was asked to make several bibs for a friend's mother,
who is a resident of an assisted living home.
She is a very elegant lady and needed something special.
This is the first one. It is made from a hand towel.
The bottom edge is turned up to serve as pockets as well as a crumb catcher.

Here is the next one.  I added a bit of lace along the pocket edge.
Here are the rest of the bibs - a total of 5 for a very special lady.
This purple one has a machine applique in the center.

I enlarged the monogram for this green one.
The thread color is mint green.

This one has a machine applique 'H' using the same fabric as for the ruffle.

Felt Table Cover

This is a felt table cover which will be used to transform
an old office table to a really nice card table in Clemson, SC,
the new home of WestPoint Home IT professionals.
Let the games begin!

This is what it looks like off of the table.
The elastic holds it securely on the table.

Crayon Roll-Up

This is what I call a 'crayon roll-up'.  It holds 24 crayons.

It rolls up into a compact little bundle.

Top view.
These are easy to take along to restaurants, church, waiting rooms...
or any place where kids need something quiet to do.

These will also be available for purchase at the Lanett Church of the Nazarene Fall Festival
